Our essentials for puppies

The Cage: A Must for Our Puppies

The cage is at the top of our list of must-haves, and for good reason! We couldn't live without it. Here's why:

Safety and Cleanliness
The crate is a valuable asset for the safety of our puppy when we are not present. It also plays a crucial role in housetraining. Damaged furniture is annoying, but poisoning or intestinal impaction can be fatal.

Habit and Comfort
The puppies from our breeding are already used to the cage. For them, it is a place of comfort and security. The cage quickly becomes a soothing space where they feel safe.

Space and Stress Management
A puppy is not able to handle a large space until they are 12 to 18 months old. The crate helps them immensely in learning how to manage stress and solitude. It gives them a limited space that they can control, which is essential for their emotional and behavioral development.

In summary, the crate is an essential tool for our puppies, facilitating their safety, their learning and their general well-being.

Cage Layout: Puppy Mats

When it comes to setting up a puppy's crate, it's crucial to choose the right materials to ensure their safety and comfort. Here are some tips on what to put (and not put) in your puppy's crate:

Avoid Foam Mats
Nice foam mats may look comfortable, but they pose a significant risk to puppies. If your puppy bites or chews the mat, pieces of foam can be ingested, which could lead to intestinal impaction, a potentially fatal situation.

Choose washable absorbent mats
Washable pee pads or absorbent mats are very convenient for puppies. They absorb moisture and are easy to clean, keeping your puppy's space clean and dry. Plus, these mats are designed to be safe and don't pose the same risks as foam mats.

Use Bath Towels
Another great option is to use bath towels. They are soft, easy to wash, and can be changed regularly. Towels provide ample comfort for your puppy without the risks associated with foam materials.

Choosing the right materials for your puppy's crate will not only ensure their comfort, but also their safety. Opt for washable pee pads or absorbent mats, or even bath towels, to create a space that is both practical and safe for your four-legged friend.
